Murphy makes bid for council seat
Will run against incumbent in November

Developer and publisher Johnny Murphy entered the local political arena last week when he qualified to seek a seat of the Richmond Hill City Council.
Murphy is running for Post 1, currently held by council member Van Hunter, who is seeking re-election.
With 30 years of designing and building neighborhoods, Murphy said he wants to take that experience and put it to public service to help attract companies that are clean, environmentally friendly and have high-paying jobs for existing residents and local children who will hopefully return to their hometown as adults.
“The missing component for Richmond Hill to be a quality live-work-play community is local jobs,” he said. “With the new business park planned near the new proposed (I-95) interchange at Belfast (Siding Road), jobs will be forthcoming in our near future. Richmond Hill has the ability to attract businesses with high-paying jobs, and that, too, has to be carefully planned.”
