Three Richmond Hill businesses in the Ford Plaza shopping center were hit by burglars early Tuesday morning.

According to Richmond Hill Police Lt. Dana Strickland, the Beijing House, a nail salon and Fia Rua Irish Pub were broken into around 4 a.m. Tuesday. At this time, there are no suspects, he said.

“They were typical smash and grab type burglaries,” Strickland said. “Not a whole lot of money was taken.”

The windows and doors of the businesses were broken and damaged, but Strickland said an alarm system is what likely prevented further damages.

“The alarm at the Irish pub is probably what saved them from having a lot of damage and a lot of money stolen,” he said.

Strickland said there was nothing that indicated if it there were multiple burglars. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Richmond Hill Police Department at 756-5645.
