Southbound I-95 was closed for about 90 minutes near the Ogeechee River this afternoon due to an accident. The Richmond Hill Fire Department, Richmond Hill Police Department and Georgia State Patrol responded.

Traffic began moving again shortly after 2 p.m. It had been backed up north of I-16, and southbound U.S. 17 was highly congested as many motorists sought an alternate route.
