Kittie Franklin, who has served as the executive director of the Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce for the past five years, is resigning from the position on April 15, chamber Board of Directors Chairman Robbie King said Wednesday.

He said Franklin notified the board of her departure around St. Patrick’s Day. Franklin, who is a native of New Bern, N.C., could not be reached immediately for comment.

“Basically, she’s leaving for new challenges, new experiences,” King said. “We’ll miss her, and the members will miss her. She’s done a great job.”

King said although Franklin is leaving the job, she will be available through most of April to help provide a smooth transition to a new director. Board members have established a search committee to find Franklin’s replacement, he said.
