The smoke visible from Richmond Hill west on Highway 144 past I-95 is not cause for alarm.

The Fort Stewart Forestry Branch is conducting a controlled burn today in Area 16, roughly 16 miles northeast of Building 1 and one mile north of the Richmond Hill fire tower. Officials said earlier that flames should not be visible from either Highway 144 or Highway 119, although smoke will be visible as winds are eight to 12 mph to the east.
