The Georgia Department of Transportation announced today that Ford Avenue between Cherry and Pinecrest streets will be closed from 9 a.m. on Nov. 18 through 5 p.m. on Nov. 20.
GDOT said the closure is at the request of CSX Railroad to allow for railroad crossing improvements. The tracks run between Plantation Lumber and Sawmill Plaza.
Traffic will be detoured on Timber Trail, Harris Trail and U.S. 17. GDOT said motorists will be able to access residences, businesses and schools in the area up to the work zone, but that traffic will not be allowed to cross the railroad tracks while the work is being performed.
GDOT said the closure could end early if the work is completed ahead of schedule or could be closed longer if weather delays the work.
