An Ellabell man was killed Friday in an early morning crash in Garden City.

According to Capt. Gil Ballard with the Garden City Police Department, Terry Williams, 58, of Ellabell was killed on impact after his Toyota Highlander collided with a log truck around 6:15 a.m.

“From what we know he was going to work, we don’t know where that is, this morning and ran into the back of a log truck that was at the red light about to move forward at Highway 80 and Alfred Street,” Ballard said.

Ballard said no other vehicles were involved in the accident and the driver of the log truck was not injured. No aggressive driving was suspected and there was no indication that Williams was under the influence, he said, and there are no charges at this time.

“Either fatigue or a medical condition could have contributed to the accident but of course that’s still under investigation,” Ballard said.

The Garden City Police Department and Garden City Fire Departments responded to the accident, Ballard said. The state also assisted in a commercial vehicle inspection, he noted.
