DOT hosting open house Tuesday on 144/I-95 proposal
DOT

The Georgia Department of Transportation will hold an open house Tuesday in Richmond Hill on its proposed plans for safety improvements to the interchange at Highway 144 and Interstate 95.

The public is invited to review proposed plans, ask questions and make comments during the informal open house from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wetlands Center in J.F. Gregory Park.

The proposal involves constructing roundabouts on Highway 144 at the I-95 ramps, adding a right-turn bypass lane from 144 to the I-95 northbound and southbound entrance ramps.

The DOT will not make a formal presentation during the open house, and people are welcome to drop by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. A court reporter will be on hand to take verbal comments from the public.

Also, written comments are being accepted through Oct. 8. Those should be mailed to: Hiral Patel, State Environmental Administrator; Georgia Department of Transportation; 600 West Peachtree St. NW - 16thFloor; Atlanta, GA 30308.

Comments also can be submitted online to www.dot.ga.gov/PS/Public/PublicOutreach. From the menu, select “Bryan” and then “SR 144 at I-95 off ramps.” Lastly, click “Comment” and follow the instructions.

The project displays and plans will be posted on www.dot.ga.gov  for 10 days following the open house. Hardcopies also will be available at the Georgia DOT’s Savannah Area Office at 630 West Boundary St. in Savannah.
