The seventh annual Kids’ Crabbing Tournament Saturday at Fort McAllister Marina raised a total of $5,000 for Family Promise of Bryan County.

The tournament, sponsored by Salt Cured Foundation, drew 82 competitors, and the overall winner with a 7.1-pound catch was Braden Villatranco. Each participant received a medal, and drawings were held for other prizes, including T-shirts and kayaks.

Family Promise of Bryan County is a collaborative partnership of congregations within the community helping families with children in our schools who are facing homelessness. It helps homeless families regain their housing, independence and dignity. Currently approximately 135 homeless school-age children have been identified in our county.
