The Pembroke City Council presented Monday night a special resolution to one of the city’s eldest residents, Altie Moody, in honor of her birthday, which is Sept. 23.
“I’m very honored to honor Mrs. Altie Moody,” Mayor Judy Cook said during the council’s regular meeting at City Hall. “Mrs. Moody is celebrating her 100th birthday.”
Moody was surrounded with several family members and friends as the council commemorated her birthday and Cook presented the resolution to her.
“… I, Judy B. Cook, mayor of the city of Pembroke, along with the city council, honor Mrs. Altie Mack Moody for 100 years of faithful service to her God, her family, her city and her country, and encourage others to follow her fine example,” Cook read from the resolution.
“Thank y’all very much.” Moody responded. “This is surprising.”
