Council approves paper bags for dry trash

Richmond Hill city council members voted unanimously Tuesday to require residents to use paper bags for dry trash pickup.

The measure will take effect March 1. City officials say it will help the environment and cut down on costs, and that it's also getting more difficult to find landfills willing to accept dry try in plastic bags.

City officials began discussing the idea in October.
