Richmond Hill will soon see more housing after the Richmond Hill City Council approved Tuesday a master plan for Harris Trail Townhomes.

At its regular meeting in City Hall, the council unanimously approved plans for the development, which will consist of 42, three-bedroom townhomes according to developer Dillon Baynes.

The master plan was approved with conditions that the development have a private road, be gated community and have a fund be set up for future maintenance to the road.

The council had concerns regarding future maintenance to the private road, and wanted to ensure the developer would be responsible for any costs associated with upgrading it.

Baynes told the council a collection of $4 per-home would provide enough funding for when the road would need upgrading, which would be after 20-30 years.
