Bryan County Commission Chairman Jimmy Burnsed announced his plans to run for the position again in the upcoming election.
Burnsed, a Republican, is currently in his second term as county commission chairman. He said serving another term as chairman is important to him to help the future of Bryan County stay “on track.”
“I think for me it’s the right thing to do,” he said. “I believe that our community of Bryan County is beginning to come out of the real estate recession and I think we’ll see some new developments coming and new housing and it’s much needed.
“Through the years I’ve had tremendous support in the community and I hope I’ll have that support going forward. I have certainly enjoyed being a part of the community and this position and just want to do my best to keep the right things going.”
Burnsed, who also serves as the Chairman at Bryan Bank and Trust, said working with the budget and special purpose local option sales tax funds is something he looks forward to working on if he is re-elected.
“The budget and finance is always a big issue and I think managing the SPLOST we just passed to make sure we get all the projects done in the SPLOST cycle,” he said.
