Carrol Ann Coleman has announced that she will seek election to the office of Bryan County Tax Commissioner. The long term current tax commissioner, Debbie Newman, said she is retiring and will not seek re-election.
"The office of tax commissioner requires someone with a good working knowledge of not only taxation, but of local government itself," Coleman said in a prepared statement. "My service on the tax equalization board and the Board of Education make me uniquely qualified for the position."
Coleman served as the chairman of the Bryan County Board of Education 1995-1998 and 2003-2006. She served on the county's Board of Equalization from 2000-2002.
