Richmond Hill has scheduled its annual events to get area residents into a holiday mood.

Chili Cook-Off
Friday, Dec. 2, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
J.F. Gregory Park, 521 Cedar St.
The city of Richmond Hill will present its 15th annual Chili Cook-Off on Dec. 2. The community is invited to enjoy some of the best chili around, and will be asked to help choose the People’s Choice Award winner by voting for their favorite. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded. Booth rentals are on a first-come basis. Registration deadline is Friday, pending space availability. Christmas Tree Contest
Dec. 2, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
J.F. Gregory Park
Also on Dec. 2, businesses and organizations are invited enter the city’s Christmas Tree Contest, which will be on display during the Chili Cook-Off. Hundreds of area residents will see the display. There is no entry fee.
Christmas Parade:
"Christmas Around the World"
Saturday, Dec. 3, 10 a.m.
The next day, Dec. 3, will feature this year’s parade, which will celebrate Christmas around the world. It will feature high school bands, Fort Stewart 3rd Infantry Division Marching Band and Color Guard and the Alee Shriners. There will be an appearance by Santa Claus and candy for children. The parade will begin on Maple Street, continue on Cherry Street, down Ford Avenue, make a right onto Richard Davis Drive and continue onto Cedar Street, before ending in J.F. Gregory Park.
Christmas Decorating
Contest
Dec. 7-15, Across county
City and county residents can enter the home decoration contest by Dec. 7 by calling 912-756-3345. Winners will be announced on Dec. 15. Prizes will be awarded and there is no cost to enter.
