Bryan County Commission Chairman Jimmy Burnsed, who also serves as chairman of the Coastal Regional Commission’s Regional Transportation Roundtable Executive Committee, spoke to the Richmond Hill Rotary Club Thursday about local transportation projects listed as part of Georgia’s Transportation Investment Act of 2010.
The act calls for a 1-cent sales tax to fund regional projects, such as interchange improvements at I-95 and Hwy. 17 and Hwy. 144, widening Hwy. 144 and others in Bryan County.
The tax would also give Bryan County as much as $26 million over 10 years for local projects.
The executive committee will meet again Aug. 3 at the Richmond Hill City Center to further discuss transportation projects.
