Bryan County Schools is undergoing accreditation and should know the results Wednesday, according to assistant superintendent Dr. Brad Anderson.

Here's the system's press release.

Dr. Paul Brooksher, superintendent, announced that Bryan County Schools has become a candidate for AdvancED Accreditation and is hosting a quality assurance visit this week.

AdvancED Accreditation provides nationally recognized accreditation for the school system. To earn AdvancED Accreditation, the agency must: 1) meet the AdvancED accreditation standards; 2) implement a continuous process of improvement; and 3) host an external review team once every five years.

“It is a rigorous process that demonstrates to our community that we are focused on improving system performance and service to our constituents,” stated Dr. Brooksher.

Using the AdvancED Standards for Quality Systems as a framework, the system began the process by conducting a thorough self-assessment of its strengths and opportunities for improvement. The system engaged a broad cross section of representatives from across the system and the broader community in its self-assessment.

Following the internal review, the system will host an AdvancED Quality Assurance Review Team comprised of trained professionals from across the nation and state. The review team will visit the system through Wednesday to evaluate the agency’s self-assessment, determine the degree to which the system meets the AdvancED accreditation standards, and make an accreditation recommendation.

“Bryan County Schools is a great system,” stated Dr. Brooksher. “We believe strongly that the AdvancED Accreditation Process will make us even better. Our entire community will benefit when the system commits to examining all of its processes and systems to determine what more we can be doing to benefit the constituents we serve. This is the essence of the accreditation process.”
