Those school buses you might have seen parked at the Crossroads are not broken down. They are advertisements.

Facing an ever-increasing enrollment, Bryan County Schools needs to fill positions, and lots of them.

A job fair for bus drivers and mechanics will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on each corner of Ford Avenue and U.S. 17, in the parking lots of Clyde’s, Hardees, CVS and Walgreens.

According to Allen Cox, director of transportation, the district offers free and flexible training, and the minimum starting salary is $15.18 with full benefits. Call (912) 459-5170 for more information or visit www.bcscareers.net.

Also on Saturday, the district’s human resources department will hold interviews from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to fill teaching positions. Superintendent Paul Brooksher recently told the Bryan County News that the district needs teachers in every subject at every grade level.

Interested parties, including spring college graduates and teachers from other districts, are asked to visit https://bryanctyga.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx for a list of openings and to fill out an application. Brooksher noted that filling out an application does not guarantee participation in the interview process.

“We want to get ahead of the curve in filling these positions and want to make sure we’re getting the best of the best,” he said.

The website lists some 50 positions currently open.
