Christmas will be a little brighter for more than 150 underprivileged families in Bryan County after bags full of toys and gifts were handed out Monday as part of the Bryan County Children’s Fund.
The program that has been in place for nearly 10 years thanks to Bryan County Family Connection ensures all children in Bryan County will have a visit from Santa.
Resident Linda Martin said she felt very blessed that her grandchildren were eligible to receive gifts, and she was very grateful for Family Connection and others who made the program possible — not only for her grandchildren, but for all children receiving gifts this year.
“Christmas would not have been much without this,” she said. “Once you pay the bills, you don’t have much left.”
Also very thankful for the program was Shelly Goolsby, who picked up gifts for her two daughters Monday evening.
“Christmas would have been rough — their dad just lost his job,” she said.
