Richmond Hill Planning and Zoning Director Scott Allison has been promoted to assistant city manager.

Mayor Harold Fowler announced the promotion during Tuesday’s City Council meeting in City Hall.

Allison said he will remain as planning and zoning director in his new capacity, while adding new responsibilities such as serving in the absence of City Manager Chris Lovell in certain meetings and city dealings.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity,” Allison said. “I gladly accept the responsibility and very much appreciate the mayor and council and Chris for providing me with this opportunity.”

Allison, a University of Georgia graduate, became Richmond Hill’s planning and zoning director in July 2013 after being Garden City’s director of planning and economic development. Before going to Garden City, he worked with private companies in the Atlanta area as both a project manager and planner.
