Academic Honors: Dozens of local students earn college honors

Neely on the list at GSW
Jessica Neeley, a resident of Richmond Hill, was among 177 students who made the spring 2014 academic achievement list for scholastic achievement at Georgia Southwestern State University.
To be eligible for the academic achievement list, a student must previously earn at least 12 credit hours at GSW, be enrolled in 3 to 11 hours of courses, and earn a 3.5 or higher grade-point average.
Howze honored by Belmont
Ansley Howze of Richmond Hill qualified for the spring 2014 dean’s List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
Approximately 30 percent of Belmont’s student body qualified for the spring 2014 dean’s list.
Belmont Provost Dr. Thomas Burns said, “This achievement for the spring semester indicates that these students have placed a high priority on their work at Belmont and have invested time and energy in their studies. It is our strong belief that consistent application in this manner will reap great benefits, which will equip them for a lifetime of learning and growing.”
Soop makes president’s list
SEGUIN, Texas — David M. Soop of Richmond Hill was named to the Texas Lutheran University president’s academic honor list for the 2014 spring semester.
To be named to the president’s list, a student must have a 4.0 while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours. 
Area natives shine at AASU
Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah recently announced president’s list honorees, each of whom earned a 4.0 grade-point average for two consecutive semesters during the 2013-14 academic school year.

Nixon achieves dean’s list
Clayton State University has named Richmond Hill High School graduate Amber Nixon to its spring semester 2014 dean’s list.
 Nixon was a member of the class of 2013 at RHHS.
 To be eligible for the dean’s list a student must have taken a minimum of nine credit hours with a 3.6 (out of four) grade-point average or better for the semester in question.
