Though the listing for a new superintendent for Bryan County Schools may have closed in February, the Board of Education still has a ways to go before the search is over.
Board Chairman Eddie Warren said Tuesday the list of 32 applicants presented a lot of qualified candidates for the position. He said the board will take a look at applicants again this week.
"Our regular meeting is this Thursday and we'll have an executive session and we'll try to narrow the list down to the first round of interviews," Warren said.
The BoE met with Georgia School Boards Association, which was hired to help with the search, March 15 during an executive session at a called meeting to review applications.
"All of them (candidates) are very qualified as far as qualifications, but they didn't all necessarily match the criteria we were looking for - although a lot of them did," Warren said.
