Bryan County Commission Chairman Carter Infinger, left, presents a lifesaving award to Kim Sarver for her response to a Jan. 4 fire on Briarwood Lane.

Sarver, who was up early delivering the Savannah Morning News, spotted a house on fire.

Mrs. Sarver knocked on the door and called 911 when she noticed the fire and was able to help get the family out.

“It broke my heart. I am so glad they got up,” Mrs. Sarver stated when Chief Freddy Howell called to thank her for her quick response.

 There were no injuries.
