The Judicial Nominating Commission of Georgia has formally recommended Donald Montgomery to Governor Brian P. Kemp for appointment to the State Court of Bryan County, following interviews and deliberations conducted on December 10, 2025.
In a letter dated December 15, 2025, the Commission informed Governor Kemp that it received two applications, Andrew Johnson and Donald Montgomery, for the vacancy and interviewed both candidates. After considering the qualifications of each applicant, the Commission submitted Donald Montgomery as its only recommendation as qualified for the position.
Montgomery currently serves as Solicitor-General of Bryan County, a role he has held since 2016, and is a partner at the law firm of Scheer, Montgomery & Call, P.C. He brings extensive experience in criminal law, courtroom practice, and public service, including prior service as a law enforcement officer before entering the legal profession.
The Judicial Nominating Commission is tasked with vetting and recommending qualified candidates for judicial vacancies across the State of Georgia. Its recommendation is submitted for final consideration and appointment by the Governor.
