Rincon resident Erica Ulmer, 20, died from injuries received in a single car accident Thursday on Hwy. 80, according to authorities.
Preliminary reports indicate speed as the contributing factor. Ulmer was travelling west on Hwy. 80, near Blichton in Bryan County, when she reportedly lost control while making a turn at the two mile post. Ulmer’s car crossed the center line and the eastbound bound lane before colliding with a pole.
BCSO Capt. Mike Maxwell said there were no other vehicles involved, and no passengers.
“If there would’ve been a passenger in the vehicle, they would’ve been killed,” Maxwell said. “The pole snapped in half and went through the passenger seat.”
