Great Oaks Bank named Large Business of the Year by Chamber

Great Oaks Bank received the 2022 Large Business of the Year Award at the Richmond Hill Bryan County Chamber’s annual awards reception held on Feb. 23.

“We are beyond thrilled to be named the Large Business of the Year,” said Jon Seagraves, Chief Banking Officer. “Just over four years ago we opened our doors with the vision to provide authentic community banking to the greater Richmond Hill area. Through our team’s hard work and dedication to our customers and the community, we graciously accept this award.”

Brad Brookshire, Chief Risk Officer added, “I couldn’t be prouder of our team. This award represents our commitment to our customers and our communities.”

Award winners included Ambassador of the Year Mike Ribuffo of Richmond Hill Neighbors. Papa’s Pizza to Go was named the Chambers Small Business of the Year.

The Distinguished Public Service Award went to Lynnetta and James Smith of Combat Boots 2 the Boardroom, a nonprofit that advocates for veterans, women and children.

Other news of note included announcements that Paige Glazer of Raydient Places, Ralph Forbes of Thomas & Hutton and Jon Seagraves of Great Oaks Bank are retiring from the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

In addition, Emily Cannon from Coastal Electric was honored for serving as the 2022 Chairman. She will serve as past chair in 2023.

The Chamber also announced Brad Bixler is the 2023 chairman of the Board of Directors.


About the Large Business of the Year Award: 

Presented to a company that has achieved success in its business through growth and quality performance, innovative efforts, and active participation in the community. All nominees must be owners, partners, or major shareholders of a business in Bryan County. The business (owner) should act as an advocate for his or her trade by participating in trade associations and community activities, as well as serve as an ambassador for small, local business owners. Companies must have been established for a minimum of three years, active and current members of the RHBC Chamber, with 11 or more employees and/or more than $5 million in sales.

Newly-appointed Richmond Hill-Bryan County Airport Authority Chairman Trip Addison kicked off the board’s first-ever meeting by telling those who attended he was “dedicated to engaging every voice in this process,” as the board moves forward on a potential general aviation airport on Rayonier-owned property off Highway 17 near Belfast Keller Road.
