Members of Girl Scout troops 30411 and 30786 addressed the Richmond Hill City Council last week, proposing modifications to the playground at J.F. Gregory Park.

The girls became aware that the playground could offer better accessibility to those with special needs.

They suggested a wheelchair ramp and a wheelchair-accessible swing be installed, a dedicated handicapped parking space closer to the playground, and to have some of the mulch replaced with a soft mat made of recycled rubber.

The council said it appreciated the suggestions and thanked the girls, Rori Page, Madelyn Rhett, Lilly Strock, Alicia James, Madison Deane, Piper Gromoshak and Chloe Mathews, and troop leader Melissa Jackson, for presenting their ideas.
