For the second straight year, The Fort McAllister Sportfishing Club will be making needy children very happy on Christmas morning.

The club donated 16 bikes and helmets in varying sizes to Bryan County foster kids through the Department of Family and Children Services.

The bikes were delivered to the Richmond Hill DFCS office at noon Friday, who will in turn get the bikes to the children in time for Christmas. Club members helping with Friday’s bike donation were organization President Art Leong, Secretary-Treasurer Lee Southard, and members Tracy Shaw and Rocky Mallard.

Mallard said it was all 32 members of the club and local sponsors that made the donations possible.

"We have a fishing tournament to help raise money to buy the bikes, and we have great sponsors that help us do this," Mallard said.

Leong said they like to do what they can to help out.

"It’s good to help kids. They are our future." he said.
