Fort McAllister to host 43rd Annual Candle Lantern Tour

Fort McAllister State Park is east of Richmond Hill.

Experience Fort McAllister in a whole new light with a guided candlelit tour, an annual tradition since 1979.  This year's tour is on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Living history programs include soldiers performing their evening duties and civilian life during the Civil War.  Tours include stops at the blacksmith’s shop, hot shot furnace, hospital, powder magazine, barracks, jail, and more.  Visitors get to see an exclusive nighttime cannon firing. 

Tours are 30 minutes each. The first tour will begin at 6:40 p.m. and the last tour will begin at 9:30 p.m.. 

Cost is $25 per person. Ages two and under are free. 

Pre-registration is required for this event by calling the park office at 912.727.2339.  Guests are encouraged to leave their flashlights at home in favor of an authentic candlelight setting.  For more information, contact
