Fort McAllister to host 155th Winter Muster

Fort McAllister is near the coast, east of Richmond Hill.

Travel back in time as Fort McAllister State Historic Park hosts its 155th Winter Muster, Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This annual reenactment commemorates the Battle of Fort McAllister, the last battle of General Sherman’s March to the Sea.

 Watch as Federal soldiers attempt to seize Fort McAllister from its Confederate defenders. Cannon and musket firings will be ongoing throughout the day, including skirmishes between the two forces. The final assault reenactment will take place at 5 p.m. Audiences are encouraged to arrive by 4 p.m. to view the final assault.

Cost is $10 per person. Children two and under may enter free of charge.
