Richmond Hill Fire Department firefighters battle a blaze on Ford Avenue near the Fish Hatchery early Thursday morning.

A Friday morning fire at commercial buildings on Ford Avenue near the Fish Hatchery is under control, according to Richmond Hill officials. 

Eastbound 144 lanes in that area were closed at 9:30 a.m.

Richmond Hill officials have been providing updates on their Facebook page -- City of Richmond Hill, Georgia. 

Here's what the city has reported:


UPDATE (9:26 am): Eastbound 144 lanes in that area and Clark Street remain closed at this time. Fire crews are working as quickly as possible to open that area up. However, we do not have an estimate yet on when they will reopen.

UPDATE (9:00 am): Crews have the structure fire at the commercial building under control, and the cause is under investigation.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. However, several local businesses are located in that building. Please keep them in your thoughts.

UPDATE (8:44 am): The westbound lanes are now open.

UPDATE (8:30 am): The area remains closed.


FORD AVE / HWY 144 CLOSED ON BOTH SIDES BY FISH HATCHERY

Due to an active structure fire, Ford Ave / Highway 144 in the Fish Hatchery area (between the library and Kroger) is closed on both sides at this time.

Please find an alternate route.
