Every dog has his day at Yappy Hour fundraiser
Yappy Hour

By Lizzy Donker, BCN intern.

Bryan County’s Bark Park celebrated National Dog Day last Thursday at Love’s Seafood.

They call this event “Yappy Hour”, and the initiative supports Bryan County Animal Control.

Pet owners were able to bring their furry friends and sit down for a good meal with some live music. Each attendee was asked to bring a donation, and all donations went to the animal shelter.

T-Mobile also attended, presenting a $1,500 donation to the local animal shelter’s spay and neuter fund at Cedar Animal Hospital. The event even featured pet-related prizes for those who attended with their furry friend.

National Dog Day is celebrated nationwide on Aug. 26 and it was a day created to not only celebrate pets, but to draw attention to the number of dogs in shelters and encourage adoptions. Hopefully, this National Dog Day and “Yappy Hour” will encourage those in our community to do just that
