Election to fill Ott seat planned for March 16

Qualifying begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday for the Richmond Hill Post 3 council seat vacated by Mark Ott, who said he stepped down to find employment.

Qualifying runs from Tuesday until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at City Hall. Prospective candidates have to qualify with City Clerk Dawnne Greene, who is also the city’s elections supervisor.

There is a $150 qualifying fee for candidates.

The election is March 16, and early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 22 through March 12.

Should there be a runoff, it will be held April 13.

Residents who want to vote in the election must be registered by 5 p.m. Feb. 16. 

Voting will be at Wetlands Center at J.F. Gregory Park.
