Early voting for the District 1 county commissioner runoff between incumbent Joe Kendrick and challenger Noah Covington began Monday morning, according to Elections Superintendent Sam Davis.

Voters in Bryan County’s District 1, made up of Pembroke and parts of Ellabell, have until 5 p.m. Friday to cast a ballot at either the Voter Registration Office in Pembroke or the County Administrative Building in South Bryan during the early voting period, Davis said.

“Only people registered in District 1 can vote, but by law we have to open both locations,” Davis said.

The runoff date is set for Dec. 4, Davis said. Just like Election Day, District 1 precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the J. Dixie Harn Community Center in Pembroke and gym at Hendrix Park, he added.
