Bryan County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Gary Provost said his department has been getting a lot of phone calls lately about drug activity in the Harveytown Road area of Ellabell.

Friday, Provost said the department is listening – noting deputies made a drug bust near White Street last week when they arrested Ellabell resident Ramone Johnson on March 5.

Johnson is charged with multiple possession with intent to distribute several grams of crack.

He was also charged with felony obstruction for allegedly fighting with officers during the arrest.

Provost said Johnson tried to swallow the drugs when approached by police.

Johnson has a history of drug violations and is on felony probation for drug related charges, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections website.

He is currently incarcerated at Bryan County Jail. He has a $36,000 bond but has a probation hold.
