Here are short biographies of the seven Democrats seeking their party's nomination to run for Georgia governor. Democratic voters will decide among them in Tuesday primary election:

Name: Thurbert Baker
Political affiliation: Democrat
Age: 57; born Dec. 16, 1952
City: Stone Mountain
Education: Bachelor's degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1974; law degree from Emory University Law School, 1979.
Professional/political experience: Current Georgia attorney general. Baker was appointed attorney general in 1997 and was elected to the office in 1998, 2002 and 2006. Baker served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1989 to 1997. He has worked as a lawyer in private practice and with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Name: Roy Barnes
Political affiliation: Democrat
Age: 62; born March 11, 1948
City: Marietta
Education: Bachelor's degree from University of Georgia, 1969; law degree from University of Georgia, 1972.
Professional/political experience: Former Georgia governor. Barnes served one term as governor from 1998 to 2002. He was defeated by current Gov. Sonny Perdue. Barnes served in the state Senate from 1974 to 1990 and the state House from 1992 to 1998. He has worked as a lawyer with the Cobb County District Attorney's Office, Atlanta Legal Aid and in private practice. He currently serves as an attorney for Barnes Law Group.

Professional/political experience: Former mayor of Ray City. Camon served as mayor from 1996 to 1997 and from 2000 to 2009. He also served as city councilman from 1993 to 1995. He also served in the Air Force and the Air Force Reserve.

Age: 66, born Oct. 24, 1943
City: Atlanta
Education: Bachelor's degree from Emory University, 1964; law degree from Emory University School of Law, 1967.
Professional/political experience: Former secretary of state and former labor commissioner. Poythress served as secretary of state from 1979 to 1983 and labor commissioner from 1992 to 1998. He also served as assistant state attorney general from 1971 to 1972 and deputy state revenue commissioner from 1972 to 1976. He was the commanding general of the Georgia Army and Air National Guard from 1999 to 2007. He is currently an attorney in private practice.
