Clerk of court ran unopposed

Judge Sam Davis swears in Becky Crowe for another term.

Some countywide officers have served for years and ran unopposed in 2008. Others are new to the job.

Becky Crowe is in the former category.

Crowe has been Clerk of Court since 1997 and ran without opposition in 2008 and has been in the county clerk’s office since January 1989. She said she loves the work she does and is excited to be back for another term.

"It’s important to me. I am here for the citizens. I like being able to do what I can to help," she said.

Crowe said she looks forward to a second courtroom to help with the congested court schedule and hopes it will be in place in 2009.

"We’ve been using the law library and the County Commissioner’s room as a court room when the Superior Court room is busy, and have used the Sheriff’s Complex and even Pembroke City Hall on rare occasions when the space was needed and no other was available," Crowe said.

"The new courtroom will help keep the flow going and make everything run more smoothly," she said.
