Longtime Pembroke Fire Chief Jimmy T. Cook, second from left, was honored at the city’s January city council meeting with a proclamation naming Fire Station Number 1 the Chief Jimmy T. Cook Building.

Cook joined the fire department in 1962 and was named chief in 1971. He held that role for 42 years.

The proclamation notes “whereas, the naming of a facility is an appropriate recognition for such a distinguished person with 51 years of service,” the building be named after him.

With Cook, from left, are Fire Chief Peter Waters, Chief Cook’s wife, Pembroke Mayor Judy Cook, and Mayor Pro-Tem Tiffany McCoy-Zeigler.
