A sewage spill took place Monday at the Quality Inn in Richmond Hill, forcing the restaurant at the motel to close.
According to a press release issued Tuesday afternoon by the city, around 12:30 p.m. Monday, around 200 gallons of wastewater spewed from plumbing fixtures at the Quality Inn and ended up in a nearby roadside ditch along Hwy. 17.
The spill began as a result of a blockage within the restaurant’s sewer lateral, the release states.
Areas affected by the spill were treated with lime and cleaned to remove debris. Until repairs are completed, the restaurant at the Quality Inn will remain closed.
