SAVANNAH — Vision Airlines is dropping its service to Savannah three months after the charter carrier added the coastal Georgia city to its schedule.

David Meers, the airline's chief operating officer, said in a statement Monday that demand was lower than expected for Vision's flights between Savannah and Destin-Fort Walton Beach in Florida. The metro Atlanta-based carrier began offering the service three days a week in late March. The Savannah flights will end July 17.

Savannah isn't the only city being dropped by Vision Airlines. It's also ending service next month to Huntsville, Ala.; Columbia and Greenville, S.C.; and Baton Rouge, La.

The airline began in 1994 in Las Vegas, Nev., and offered tourist flights from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon.
