Phillips named CEO for Canoochee EMC

REIDSVILLE — Lou Ann Phillips has been promoted to chief executive officer of Canoochee Electric Membership Cooperative, according to its board of directors.
A Tattnall County native, Phillips began working for Canoochee EMC in 1980 and has been in positions of increasing responsibility ever since, most recently as chief financial officer. As a 35-year employee at Canoochee EMC, she has gone through numerous courses and seminars related to the electric-cooperative industry.
“Lou Ann meets all of the criteria that make her an outstanding selection to lead Canoochee EMC into the future,” said Herbert A. Daniel Jr., Canoochee EMC board president.
Phillips’ appointment as CEO was effective May 28. Phillips received her Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University in 1980 and her Master of Arts from Central Michigan University in 1984. She also is a member of the Long County Development Authority and Reidsville Baptist Church.
Canoochee EMC is a member-owned cooperative that provides electricity to approximately 14,000 homes and businesses in Bryan and eight other counties.
