The Bryan County News won three Georgia Press Association Awards in the 2010 Better Newspaper Contest.
The paper won a third place for community service for its continued coverage of the Liberty County Development Authority wastewater treatment plant and its potential impact on Bryan County.
Judges wrote: “You did a good job of explaining the problem and inspiring the community to get involved.”
Staff members also won a first place spot news photo award and a third place in hard news writing.
“We are really proud of our news staff for the job they do,” said News Publisher Mark Griffin. “Local news and information is still vitally important to communities like Bryan County, and we’re committed to doing the best job we can for our readers. We’re thankful to our readers and advertisers for making it all possible.”
The News competes in Division E, which is comprised of many larger weeklies.
