9Round, a fitness center that brings boxing and kickboxing training to the average person in a 30-minute, circuit format, recently opened in Richmond Hill.

The gym, which is at 11408 Ford Ave., is 9Round’s first in Georgia. Company plans call for having as many as 10 area locations over the next several years.

"What separates us from other gyms is the fact that we offer convenience and deliver measurable results," gym owner Ben Bishop said. "9Round addresses all of the fitness obstacles that people routinely encounter by offering 30-minute, full-body workouts led by trainers and a virtual nutrition coach."

Bishop is a retired manufacturing engineer who has been lifelong student of martial arts and has two black belts. He hopes to share his passion for fitness and help people achieve their fitness goals.

The workouts were developed by reigning IKF Light Middleweight Kickboxing Champion of the World Shannon "The Cannon" Hudson.

There are no class times, trainers are always on site, and routines change daily, giving members a fresh workout every time they come in.

"Whether you are a beginner or advanced, our trainers will help you kick and punch your way to a healthier you," Bishop said. "We look forward to giving local residents the best workout they’ve ever had, minus the complicated machines or silly aerobic routines."

Memberships include hand wraps, boxing gloves, heart rate training program, online nutrition support and guidance, as well as one-on-one training. First-time visitors get a free workout.

Hours are Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
