Kroger collects for Second Harvest

As food banks around the country begin collecting food for the holidays, Kroger launches its “Can Hunger” in Savannah-area stores through donations to America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia and other local Feeding America food banks.

Through Dec. 24, Kroger customers can buy $1, $3 or $5 icons to help provide food for area families in need. All donations collected in the Savannah area will benefit America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.

Nearly 50 million Americans faced difficulties in providing food in 2014, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“The ‘Can Hunger’ initiative provides Kroger customers and associates with the opportunity to help families in their community during the holiday season,” said Glynn Jenkins, the director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “Every small monetary donation increases our ability to feed those who are less fortunate within the community.”
