HOA buys Waterford Landing course

The Waterford Landing Homeowner’s Association Inc. (HOA) recently purchased the defunct Waterford Landing Golf Course.

The decision was made following a homeowners meeting held June 28.

According to Tom Norman, HOA president, about 50 percent of homeowners voted and more than 75 percent approved the purchase.

According to Bryan County Clerk of Court records, the golf course property transferred from Waterford Golf Associates Inc. to the homeowners association for $300,000.

“This purchase gives our community the certainty that the golf course property will be used to the benefit of our homeowners, not the financial interests of developers,” he said in a press release.

The 18-hole golf course is part of a 115-acre facility that included a clubhouse, community swimming pool, driving range and parking lot.

The golf course was closed in March 2010.

“The acquisition of the golf course property now positions our homeowners to consider a variety of land-use options that would have been unthinkable before this purchase,” Norman said. “Improvement decisions can now be made over time, based on homeowner needs, interests and funding availability.”
