ATLANTA — Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits for the nation’s long-term unemployed workers are set to end Saturday, Dec. 28, impacting 39,559 workers in Georgia.
EUC is a federally funded benefit for long-term unemployed workers who have exhausted regular state unemployment insurance benefits. The maximum weekly benefit is $330, while the most recent average weekly benefit is $253.
Extension programs are enacted by the U.S. Congress. If legislation is passed to extend the EUC program, the Georgia Department of Labor will inform affected workers by an announcement at www.employgeorgia.com and the department’s Interactive Voice Response system.
GDOL resources are available to help people with their job searches. Job seekers may visit any of the department’s career centers throughout the state or go to the Spotlight section at www.employgeorgia.com.
