The mission of the North Bryan Chamber of Commerce Inc. is to provide positive business leadership resulting in economic vitality for businesses, their employees and the North Bryan community. The chamber has a membership of 72 businesses and individuals in Pembroke, Black Creek and Ellabell, as well as the surrounding areas.
“Networking at Noon” luncheon meetings are held monthly and offer an opportunity for members and guests to network and learn about timely business topics.
Three times a year different members host a “Business After Hours” social, giving members who are unable to attend the luncheon meetings an opportunity to network with others. In March of each year, an annual meeting is held to celebrate the year’s successes and to focus on a new year of programs and events. Member services also include a Chamber website and “Ribbon Cuttings” for new businesses.
The North Bryan Chamber is dedicated to preserving the quality of life in north Bryan and the surrounding areas. Chamber members represent the wonderful diversity that is in the North Bryan community.
Members include family-owned businesses, sole proprietors, franchise operators and community service organizations. Individual members include educational, charitable and community service organizations, local public agencies, corporate executives and individual professionals.
Currently the chamber is promoting its “Shop North Bryan First” campaign to encourage consumers to buy local. “SNBF” decals are available at no cost from local merchants.
They are designed to pique one’s curiosity and to bring awareness to supporting the local economy.
A second phase of the campaign will include a loyalty card that provides consumers with incentives to shop local. These may include but are not limited to discounts based on the dollar amount spent, free items based on the purchase of certain items, a percentage off a service provided, and more. Beginning in late March, consumers can sign up for a free loyalty card and a list of participating businesses.
Also new to the area will be the city of Pembroke’s “Whistlestop Market” to be held each Saturday from April through November. Consumers can support the local economy by buying produce and other items from area farmers and vendors. The chamber plans to participate in special event days, so look for more information on this soon.
The chamber sponsors an annual Chili Cook-Off in February each year with contestants vying for the best chili in north Bryan. Winners receive cash prizes and guests from the community enjoy all the chili they can eat.
In October, the Chamber sponsors a Pumpkin Carving Contest and awards cash prizes to the most “spooktacular” pumpkins. Both events offer an opportunity for businesses and the community to participate in family oriented activities. The chamber also participates in Pembroke’s annual Christmas Parade.
The chamber office is located in Pembroke’s Welcome Center at 18 E. Bacon St.
“Welcome Bags” are provided to new residents and businesses and include a county map featuring North Bryan County; the Newcomers & Neighbors Guide; information on the chamber, flyers, brochures, ads and coupons from members; as well as guides to schools, churches and recreation in our community.
As a chamber, we welcome individuals and new as well as established businesses who have an interest in making North Bryan a successful business community. Through business leadership, advocacy and community building, we strive to develop a strong foundation needed for businesses to grow, thrive and succeed.
