Development Authority of Bryan County CEO Anna Chafin has been appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve on the Georgia Student Finance Commission’s board of commissioners, the governor’s office announced Friday.

Chafin will serve a six-year term on the board, which establishes standards, regulations and policies for the Georgia Student Finance Commission’s operations.

The GSFC is the state agency that provides financial aid to Georgia students. Its programs include state- and lottery-funded scholarships, grants, and loans that can be repaid through work in a field identified by the Georgia Legislature as a “critical need.”

Chafin currently serves as second vice chair of the Georgia Economic Developers Association, is a past chair for the Leadership Southeast Georgia Alumni Association, sits on the Coastal Workforce Investment Board and is a member of the Richmond Hill Rotary Club.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Mercer University and is a graduate of the Georgia Academy of Economic Development, Leadership Bryan, Leadership Southeast Georgia and Leadership Georgia.
