ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Labor and the Savannah Technical College will co-sponsor a career expo for veterans and other job seekers in Savannah. The expo is from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in the college’s Eckburg Auditorium, 5717 White Bluff Road.
On Wednesday, prior to the career expo, the GDOL and the college also will co-sponsor a Veterans Appreciation Day from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the college’s Academic Commons Building, room 7228.
That day, GDOL staff members will conduct job-readiness workshops for veterans. The workshops include: Market Yourself Using Social Media, Job Search, Resume Preparation, Interviewing Skills and Dress for Success Runway.
The expo will feature about 50 employers, educational institutions and resource agencies that provide assistance to veterans and other job seekers. The employers will be hiring or discussing future employment opportunities, while other organizations will provide educational resources. Applicants must bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available jobs. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for jobs.
Those expected to participate in the expo include: Advantage Staffing, Aerotek, Bon Appetit, Briggs & Stratton, Caesarstone, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Cintas Corporation, city of Savannah, Coastal Connection, Comcast, Court Yard-Savannah Midtown, Cross Roads Service Group, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Public Safety, Express Employment, FedEx Ground, First Command, First Student, Game Stop, Goodwill, Great Dane Trailers-Statesboro, Home Depot, Horizon Staffing, INCONEN, International Paper-Container, Labor Ready, Lazer Spot, Lowe’s, Savannah Fire and Emergency, Savannah Jobs, Savannah Police Department, Schneider, SNF Holding Company, TICO, T-Mobil, UPS, West Penn Testing Group, Westin and Volt/FedEx.
