SAVANNAH — Wes Barr recently was hired as mortgage-loan originator at The Coastal Bank.

In his new position, Barr, who has more than 13 years of sales and mortgage experience, is responsible for building new banking relationships and developing and processing mortgage loans.

Barr previously served as a loan originator at First Carolina Mortgage Inc., where he held several company records including highest aggregate-revenue generation since the bank’s inception, highest revenue generation for a single year and highest revenue generation in both single and consecutive months. Barr also served as a proprietary equity trader at Velez Capital Management in New York City, where he analyzed and traded stock patterns for the firm.

Originally from North, S.C., Barr earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in business management from the University of South Carolina in Beaufort. He resides in Port Wentworth.
